I am sure you have heard this quote before. I have always really liked the simplicity of those words. But if I am being honest, I never really gave a lot of thought to what this expression really means. And how impactful it can really be.
I don’t know about you, but I am one of those people who is constantly looking ahead. I am always planning the next thing. Next meal, next trip, next blog post…you name it. I think it is honestly more common than not. Sometimes it can feel like we are living in a state of anticipation. And honestly, that can be exhausting. Sometimes it is hard to be present in where you are right now. As bad as this sounds, sometimes it is a little hard to appreciate the season you are in when you are living in constant anticipation. Just think about the things we could be missing.
I know this phrase means making the most out of your present situation. But what exactly does that look like?
I think blooming where you are planted means to take advantage of every little opportunity that you have in this season of life. Whether that be a big opportunity like a new job, or small opportunity, like giving your dad an extra hug when you leave your parent’s house. I think it means pouring into yourself so you can pour into others when they come into the season of life you are in. Filling your brain with good and positive things and practicing self care. I think it means looking at the situation you are in, good or bad, and grabbing it by the horns. Because honestly, this season of your life will only come once. So what will you do with it?
You have heard it a million times. I have heard it a million times. I think it probably goes without saying…BUT I am going to say it anyway. 2020 was a rough year to say the least. But I feel like it taught I a lot of us to not take things for granted. To appreciate the present because you don’t know what tomorrow holds. And I hope that is a lesson we bring into this year. I hope we all truly bloom where we are planted. And make the most out of what this year brings. I have a feeling it is going to be really great.
So here’s to opportunities, experiences, and being present, and blooming where we are planted in 2021. Cheers, my sweet friends!
XO-
Kelly
